Albert Gröbmeyer received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Münster. He spent several years at the MEET Battery Research Center in Germany, where he deepened his expertise in Li-ion as well as next generation battery technology. In 2018, Albert joined Keysight Technologies as a system engineer focusing on formation and testing solutions for battery cells and was in charge of the planning and project execution for industrial and academic customers. Since 2022, Albert has taken on a strategic role in shaping the direction of Keysight’s battery test portfolio. As part of the innovation center, he is driving the evolution of cutting-edge test solutions that meet the growing demands of the battery industry, from electric vehiclesto stationary storage
"Tailoring Battery Test Software to Diverse Use Cases in Automotive, Test Houses, and Academia"
Over the past two decades, the battery industry has undergone significant transformation, and with it, the demands on battery testing have evolved as well. Although multiple testing standards have been established, many companies still develop their own benchmark tests. While advancements in test hardware, such as higher current capabilities and more precise measurement systems, continue to play an important role, the most profound shift is occurring in battery test software environment. Ensuring high testing throughput and maximizing efficiency in test facilities have become central challenges, particularly as laboratory sizes grow and software ecosystems become more complex resulting in a significant rise in data volumes.
At the same time, battery testing spans a wide range of use cases, each with distinct software requirements. Automotive OEMs, independent test houses, and academic institutions, for example, all operate under different conditions and priorities. This talk examines these varying organizational profiles and outlines how their specific use cases shape the corresponding software demands within the battery testing domain.
In addition, the presentation provides a holistic view of the test bench environment and the complete battery testing workflow, from initial test planning to execution and post‑processing, highlighting the software capabilities needed to support each stage effectively.
